Private Tours

Our volunteer guides enjoy showing visitors around and private tours can be arranged. However please be aware that this is a busy working building that is frequently in use for events so is not always accessible.   

Private visits depend on availability of both the building and volunteer guides, so we need a minimum of 7 days notice (and more if possible). At less notice we are unlikely to be able to accommodate requests.

We charge a nominal fee of £5 per person per guided tour but with the prompt that a donation is welcomed and suggest £10 to £15 per person. We keep the basic fee down so that no-one is prevented from seeing the building due to cost. We are aware that similar organisations charge a lot more. All income goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the murals and building.

Please note that due to increased demand for private visits and the availability of the venue, it might be necessary to host different groups on the same day. A private visit does not necessarily give exclusive access to the building.

There is no charge for school groups or for undergraduates from the Edinburgh Universities.

The building is accessible and has accessible toilets. We have portable folding stools which are easily carried.
